Damian Lopez has over 10 years of experience working in the Latin American market, including corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and go-public transactions. Mr. Lopez is corporate securities lawyer who has worked with various Canadian and US publicly listed companies in the technology, resources and cannabis industries. Mr. Lopez is fluent in English and Spanish and obtained a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School and a Bachelor of Commerce & Finance from the University of Toronto.
Luis Merchan is a proven executive with over 10 years of experience in enterprise sales management from industry leading consumer package goods (“CPG”) companies. He has a background in corporate strategy, merchandising and expense management, and customer experience. He joins Flora after serving as Macy’s Inc.’s Vice President of Workforce Strategy and Operations where he managed the enterprise's multi-billion dollar P&L expense line for the 540 store portfolio. Throughout his 10-year tenure at Macy’s, Mr. Merchan led many successful sales and marketing initiatives including the B2B corporate sales team and held various executive-level roles, including VP of Customer Experience and Selling Support Services and Group VP of National Merchandising and Sales – Beauty.
Mr. Merchan obtained his Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from Pontifical Xaverian University in Bogota, Colombia and his MBA from McNeese State University. He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Marketing Management from Harvard.
Deborah Battiston is a CPA-CGA, she obtained her BA in Economics from the University of Guelph and holds an ICD.D from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. Deborah has an extensive background with over 25 years of financial management, including public companies, mergers and acquisitions, tax, and financing. She also has extensive experience with fast-paced growth companies and infrastructure creation having managed the financial teams for many successful, international and domestic companies across multiple sectors, including but not limited to cannabis, mining and technology. Ms. Battiston serves as Chief Financial Officer and director on a number of public and private companies.
Javier Franco is a master horticulturist with more than 20 years of experience in the design, implementation and management of cultivation and propagation facilities for flowering plants in Latin America, mainly Colombia and Ecuador. Mr. Franco speaks English and Spanish fluently and obtained his agricultural studies at Zamorano University in Honduras and later an International Exchange Program at The Ohio State University.
Mr. Franco has managed technical, commercial and research groups in flower, fruit and vegetable markets in Latin America, and has participated in the commercial development of new technologies applied in agro-industry.
Orlando Bustos has several years of diverse financial and capital markets experience. Orlando brings experience in venture capital and investments from a global private merchant bank while having worked closely with its portfolio companies on strategy and corporate development. Previously, Orlando worked in M&A for a global firm providing companies M&A, capital raising and strategic advisory. Orlando also held finance roles in large international corporations including the largest agriculture company in Canada. Orlando obtained a BBA (Finance) with a Joint Major in Economics from the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University.
Prior to joining Flora, Evan served as President of Capital 10X, a digital investor relations consultancy focused on the cannabis and metals industries. During his time at Capital 10X, Mr. Veryard worked with public and private companies on their digital investor relations strategies to help them drive out more clear messaging and increase investor awareness. Mr. Veryard is also the Founder and Chairman of a national charity, Focus Forward for Indigenous Youth, where he led the organization through its first two pilot projects and the construction of two northern 4-season greenhouses. In addition, during his time as Chairman of Focus Forward, Mr. Veryard helped secure partnerships and funding from international organizations and federal and provincial governments. Mr. Veryard obtained his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from McGill University and Master’s of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada.
